Lahore, 6 September 2025: The day three of the second round of Hanif Mohammad Trophy saw two results in the Group B as FATA beat Karachi Blues by five wickets at UBL Sports Complex and Rawalpindi got the better of Larkana by 202 runs at the SBP Sports Complex in Karachi on Saturday, 6 September.
Group A
Faisalabad, who managed a 115-run first innings lead, added 128 runs to their overnight score of 285-5 as they were bowled out for 413 in 115.3 overs against Azad Jammu and Kashmir at the Dring Stadium, Bahawalpur.
Centurion Muhammad Awais Zafar was dismissed early for 127 off 167 balls, while wicketkeeper-batter Ali Shan remained unbeaten for 94 off 164 balls hitting 10 fours and one six.
In turn, AJK found themselves reeling at 51-4 in 29 overs and lagging 64 runs behind Faisalabad in the second innings.
Only 21 overs of play were possible due to rain at the Multan Cricket Stadium between Hyderabad and Lahore Blues, in which the latter stretched their first innings overnight score of 117-4 in 29 overs to 198-5 in 50 overs. Mohammad Saleem converted his over overnight 66 not out to 112 not out off 152 balls comprising 12 fours and one six.
Lahore Blues trail by 326 runs after Hyderabad had racked up 524 all out in 142.1 overs earlier.
Quetta responded strongly after conceding a 326-run first innings lead against Karachi Whites as they finished day three with second innings score of 214-3 in 63 overs with the help of half-centuries from Salahuddin (95 not out, 187b, 14x4s, 1x6) and Abdul Wahid Bangalzai (53, 100b, 7x4s, 1x6).
Earlier, Karachi Whites declared their first innings at 542-7 in 126.2 overs after resuming from overnight score of 457-4 in 108 overs. Saifullah Bangash, resuming from 44 not out, remained unbeaten on 100 off 119 balls with the help of 12 fours.
Group B
FATA beat Karachi Blues by five wickets as they chased the 270-run target in 89.2 overs with the help of half-centuries from Mohammad Usman (69, 156b, 4x4s) and Mohammad Sarwar Afridi (59 not out, 65b, 10x4s) along with a 159-ball 48 from Mohammad Wasim Khan.
Sarwar also shared a vital unbeaten 81-run stand with Rehan Afridi (28 not out, 41b, 4x4s) to steer FATA home safely. Earlier, Karachi Blues’ second innings folded for 214 all out in 64.1 overs after they resumed from overnight score of 192-8.
Rawalpindi’s off-spinner Mubasir Khan (21-8-42-6) and left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz (26.2 -7-70-3) bagged nine wickets combined to skittle Larkana for 195 in 67.2 overs in defence of the 398-run target at the SBP Sports Complex, Karachi.
Larkana’s opening batter Malhar Rasool top-scored with a half-century (77, 130b, 6x4s, 4x6s) as his team slipped from 113-1 to 195 all out. Earlier, Rawalpindi’s second innings concluded in 79.4 overs for 383 all out after resuming from overnight score of 277-4 in 61 overs.
All-round Mubasir backed up his first innings half-century with 85 off 58 balls comprising three fours and seven sixes in the second innings besides Yasir Khan’s century on day two.
Multan’s Imam-ul-Haq piled on a triple century finishing with 330 off 291 balls hitting 34 fours and eight sixes to help Multan to 664-5 dec in 110.3 overs as they gained a 303-run first innings lead over Dera Murad Jamali at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.
In turn, DM Jamali were still lagging behind by 183 runs at close of play as they had lost five wickets for 120 runs in 34 overs.
Earlier, Multan resumed from overnight scores of 330-1 and further added 334 runs to their total with Imam converting his unbeaten century into triple ton and Sharoon Siraj chipping in with an unbeaten 126 off 115 balls comprising of 12 fours and five sixes.
